Tribute to Paquito Esplá: ‘Els Chuanos’ Barraca Wins First Prize for Cover

The first prize for the cover is won by the barraca dedicated to Paquito Esplá.

The barraca “Els Chuanos” has won the first prize for special covers at the Hogueras festival with its design titled “Alicantine Bullfighting”, a moving tribute to Paquito Esplá. The president of “Els Chuanos”, Nico Galiana, highlights that Paquito Esplá was a symbol of Alicantine bullfighting and founder of a family that has given numerous professionals to the world of bullfighting in Alicante.

The cover, impressive in its design, shows the majestic figure of a bull. The master Pablo González Devesa was the artist behind this creation, and Luis Francisco Esplá, bullfighter and graduate in Fine Arts, personally contributed with some drawings that formed part of this spectacular cover.

In addition, the barraca “Els Chuanos”, founded in 1971, presents a back with six posters that narrate the history of the Alicante bullring and review the most outstanding bullfighters of “la terreta”.

In summary, the cover designed by Pablo González Devesa is a moving tribute to Paquito Esplá and a demonstration of the passion for bullfighting in Alicante.
